Zygomatic Dental Implants

The upper jaw quality can be compromised by previous infections, periodontal (gum) disease and progressive decline over time.
In the past, this group of patients were treated with bone grafts to restore bone volume. This often involved taking bone from elsewhere in the body and grafting it to the deficient site. Treatment times were lengthy, and not without complications.
The modern approach now for bone deficiency in the upper jaw is the use of zygomatic implants. These implants are longer and bypass the deficient jawbone to anchor in the zygoma (cheekbone).
These implants are placed by a specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeon. We have a close association with several excellent oral surgeons on the Gold Coast with extensive experience in placing zygomatic implants.

- No need for a surgical donor site (to harvest bone from).
